Water meters spark high citizen turnout at city council meeting

At Tuesday night’s Beardstown City Council meeting, there was an uncharacteristically high citizen turnout which appeared to be — at least in part — due to the new water ordinance which went into effect Aug. 1.
Citizens who voiced their opinions during public discussion were concerned about what may happen if a residence had a leak and also about the accuracy of the water meters...
