Chandlerville Burgoo parade route changes

The Chandlerville Burgoo
is getting underway
with activities planned
Thursday through Saturday,
Aug. 21-23.


The parade route has
been changed back to the
"old" route starting at the
south end of town and
going north, according to
event planners. The parade
will be held on Saturday,
starting at 10 a.m. The parade
check-in will start at
9 a.m. at the corner of
River and Main Street.
There will be no parking
on Main Street from 6
a.m. until noon from the
corner of Main and Cottage
to the corner of Main
and Lake Street. River
street will be closed to
traffic with only parade
participants allowed to use
it. The parade will end at
the corner of Main and
Lake with parade entries
dissipating on Lake Street.
Other activities will include
silent auctions on
Saturday. One will be from
11 a.m.-1 p.m. and the
other from 5-7 p.m. The
items include a Wine
Lover's Basket, a matching
set of Final Destination
duck and goose calls,
a stay at B & C Dreams, a
Spa/Relaxation basket, a
car care basket, four Cardinal
tickets, an overnight
stay at the Lodge at Grants
Trail, and possibly more.
Card raffles will also be
held with staff members
selling the tickets. Items
being raffled include a
Golf Lover’s Basket, A
Kid’s Party Pack, a River
Bottoms Banded Goose
Call, two Chicago Cubs
vs. the Reds tickets for
Sept. 15 and possibly
more items.
Events will get underway
Thursday evening
with a Bags Tournament at
Chandlerville Burgoo
5 p.m., a baby contest at 7
p.m. and a dog show at 8
Friday evening will include
a kiddie pull on
Main Street and entertainment
by the Good Ole
Boys at 7 p.m.
Saturday will feature a
5K Burgoo Boogle at 8
a.m., Fun Run at 8:30, parade
at 10 a.m., opening
ceremony and award announcements
at 11 a.m.,
and entertainment by Dick
Tater and the Tots at noon.
Activities will continue
Saturday with a talent contest
at 4 p.m., entertainment
by Antone and Wick
at 7 p.m., raffles and drawing
at 9 p.m. and a Chinese
fire drill at 9 p.m.
